It’s been some time since rumors circulated about the Pixel 9 series. Expanding on this trend, a recent report from Android Authority claims to have unveiled a significant detail regarding the Tensor chipset, potentially powering the upcoming Pixel 10 series. Despite Google’s collaboration with Samsung in developing Tensor chips, issues regarding thermals and efficiency have persisted since their introduction in 2021.

According to Android Authority, the landscape could shift in 2025, with Google possibly partnering with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to manufacture the Tensor G5 chipset. However, the Tensor G4, likely to power the Pixel 9 series, might still be a collaborative effort with Samsung, offering only incremental upgrades over the Tensor G3.

The report suggests that clues about the G5 chipset surfaced in publicly available trade databases, with the chip codenamed “Laguna Beach” and mentioning TSMC and InFO POP, a packaging technology exclusive to the chipmaker. The release is anticipated to be approximately 16 months away.

Furthermore, the chip could potentially support up to 16GB of RAM. While Samsung may continue to develop RAM for the device, chip production could potentially shift to another entity in Taiwan. However, it’s important for readers to approach these details with caution as Google has yet to confirm these developments. Meanwhile, rumors regarding the Pixel 9 series continue to circulate regularly.
