On Sunday, Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, often referred to as the “Godfather of AI,” arrived in Taipei, Taiwan.

According to Taiwanese media, Huang is scheduled to deliver a speech on the “New Industrial Revolution” to an audience of over a thousand people in the city on June 2.

Huang will also discuss a manufacturing contract with Hon Hai Technology (Foxconn) to secure the supply of Nvidia’s GB200 chip, which integrates one Grace central processing unit (CPU) and two Blackwell graphic processing units (GPUs).

A GB200 NVL72, an exascale computer linking 36 Grace CPUs and 72 Blackwell GPUs in a single rack, can deliver up to 30 times the performance of a computer equipped with the same number of H100 Tensor Core GPUs.

On Monday, Hon Hai Technology’s shares rose 5.11% to TWD185 (US$5.75).

Huang announced in May last year that Nvidia plans to build a world-class AI research center in Taiwan, intending to hire 1,000 people and invest up to TWD24.3 billion in the facility.

Nvidia’s AI initiative in Taiwan is seen as part of the island’s strategy to evolve from a chip manufacturer to an AI service provider.

In his inaugural speech on May 20, President Lai emphasized strengthening Taiwan’s national defense and security laws, and pledged to build a global democratic supply chain that includes Taiwan and like-minded nations.
