The president of Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA) faces student backlash following the publication of his lavish office in a style magazine. The report in Verse magazine showcased Chen Kai-Huang, TNUA’s president, situated in the scenic Beitou District. However, students criticized the apparent extravagance of his office decor.
Concerns emerged regarding the neglected state of campus buildings and leaky student dormitories, contrasting sharply with the perceived lavishness of the president’s office.
TNUA responded with a statement asserting transparency in budget allocation, denying claims of luxury brand furnishings in the president’s office. While open to student input, the university cautioned against spreading unsubstantiated claims, threatening with potential legal repercussions
Chen acknowledged communication gaps with students, forming a task force to address concerns and foster dialogue to dispel misunderstandings.
