Foxconn revealed on Tuesday (June 4) its partnership with Nvidia to construct an advanced computing center within two years. During the Computex Taipei event, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang visited Foxconn Technology Group’s AI-focused subsidiary Ingrasys and met with Foxconn Chair Young Liu. During their discussion, Liu disclosed plans for the joint venture to utilize Nvidia’s super chip GB200 servers in creating the advanced computing center to power Foxconn’s smart platforms.

The center, situated in Kaohsiung Software Park, will feature the Nvidia Blackwell platform as its core, according to Liu. Described as a “cutting-edge computing center,” it will house 64 racks and 4,608 graphics processing units (GPUs).

Both companies aim to strengthen their collaboration in various sectors such as AI, electric vehicles, smart factories, robots, and smart cities, highlighting the competitive edge brought by AI through Foxconn’s extensive manufacturing scale.

Huang emphasized the onset of a new computing era driven by soaring global demand for generative AI data centers. He praised Foxconn’s leading role as a Nvidia computing supplier and a pioneer in applying generative AI in manufacturing and robotics. Leveraging Nvidia Omniverse and Isaac robotics platforms, Foxconn plans to employ AI and digital twin technologies in constructing the advanced computing center in Kaohsiung.

The collaboration will utilize Nvidia Omniverse and digital twins to develop Foxconn’s three smart platforms: Smart Manufacturing, Smart EV, and Smart City. For smart manufacturing platforms, Foxconn will integrate image recognition technology with autonomous mobile robots to optimize capacity utilization.

Foxconn’s automotive manufacturing facilities in Kaohsiung’s Qiaotou Science Park will serve as a benchmark AI factory, employing a digital twin linked to cloud technologies to synchronize virtual and physical production lines. This factory currently focuses on manufacturing electric buses, where demand exceeds supply.

Regarding smart electric vehicles, Foxconn plans to incorporate Nvidia’s advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) platform into future EV models, while also exploring projects with traditional European and American car manufacturers.

Moreover, Foxconn and Nvidia aim to jointly develop a “cabin-driving-in-one” smart travel solution, creating a “third living space” with Nvidia’s latest generation of chips.
