According to Taiwan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Kwang Tien, the Taiwanese government is contemplating the possibility of extending visa-on-arrival privileges to Indian nationals. Highlighting the frequent travel patterns of Indian citizens, Deputy Foreign Minister Tien Chung-kwang stated, “…Indian citizens travel a lot…We are considering this (visa-on-arrival). We are in discussions with the Immigration Department. The decision cannot be made unilaterally by the Government; internal deliberations are necessary. The proposal for visa-on-arrival is being seriously considered.”
It has been reported that there are currently over 3,000 Indian students enrolled in Taiwanese educational institutions.
