On Saturday (June 22), Taiwan Economics Minister Kuo Jyh-huei stated that the Czech Republic aims to attract Taiwanese businesses, citing the proximity of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in nearby Dresden, Germany, as a motivating factor.

During the second segment of a podcast aired by Formosa TV on Saturday, the minister highlighted that the Czech Republic, known for its favorable stance towards Taiwan, is strategically leveraging its proximity to TSMC’s upcoming project to attract Taiwanese investors for its supply chain. TSMC, the world’s largest contract chipmaker, intends to commence construction of its factory in Dresden by the end of 2024, with production slated to begin in 2027.

Kuo stressed that companies looking to invest in Europe outside of the semiconductor industry should also explore opportunities in discussions with the Czech Republic.
