Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the leading global contract chipmaker, announced on Wednesday that it achieved a record-high revenue of NT$673.51 billion (US$20.6 billion) for the second quarter.
The impressive results were fueled by robust demand in the high-performance computing sector, particularly for its advanced 3-nanometer and 5-nanometer process technologies, according to TSMC.
According to TSMC’s financial report, the company recorded consolidated revenue of approximately NT$207.87 billion in June, marking a 9.5 percent decrease from May and a substantial 32.9 percent increase from June 2023.
TSMC also reported that its revenue for the first half of 2024 totaled NT$1.26 trillion, reflecting a 28 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Meanwhile, MediaTek Inc., a smartphone IC designer, announced on Wednesday that its revenue continued to rise in June, reaching NT$43.09 billion, a three-month high. Additionally, MediaTek’s second-quarter revenue totaled NT$127.27 billion, falling within the projected range of NT$121.4 billion to NT$133.5 billion, as stated by the company.
