The latest rich list for Taiwan, published by Forbes, places Quanta Computer Chair Barry Lam at the summit with a fortune of US$11.7 billion (NT$350 billion), marking his inaugural appearance as the wealthiest individual in Taiwan. Quanta Computer, renowned for its computer and server manufacturing, counts tech giants like Dell, Apple, and Google among its clientele.

Forbes notes that Lam’s net worth has doubled, attributed to record profits. Joining him on the list is the company’s co-founder, vice chair, and president, C.C. Leung, making his debut at 42nd position.

Following Lam are the Tsai brothers, Daniel and Richard of Fubon Financial Holdings, with an estimated fortune of US$10.7 billion, securing the second spot on the rich list.

Terry Gou, founder of Foxconn, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, takes the third position with a net worth of US$10.5 billion.

The Chang brothers, Jason and Richard, from ASE Technology Holding, a semiconductor assembly and testing company, ranked fourth with US$7.8 billion.

Surprisingly regarding the fortunes of the previously named one, Morris Chang, the visionary behind Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), has “only” a fortune of US$3.3 billion.
