Taiwanese associations in Thailand have raised 4.8 million baht (approximately 150.000 USD) in flood relief aid for northern Thailand, according to reports on September 25.

Areas like Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai have faced severe storms over the past few months, with flooding still posing a threat to Chiang Mai as of the evening of September 24, as reported by the Bangkok Post. In response to this disaster, four Taiwanese organizations in Thailand initiated a fundraising campaign for the affected regions and their residents, as noted by CNA.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand delivered the 4.8 million baht collected during the campaign from September 15 to 22 to the Thai Red Cross on Tuesday. Representative Chang Chun-fu stated that the Taiwanese community was eager to help and provide relief to those impacted by the floods.

He emphasized that this donation demonstrates Taiwan’s ability to assist people and countries in need during natural disasters. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has underscored Taiwan’s capacity to offer aid and its positive role on the global stage.
