According to Forbes, Taiwan was ranked 14th among the world’s wealthiest countries and the 6th wealthiest nation in Asia.
In its list of the “Richest Countries in the World by GDP per Capita,” Forbes included five Asian countries or regions, four from Europe, and one from North America. The rankings were based on the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) estimates of GDP per capita, adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP) and local price levels.
Luxembourg topped the global list with a per capita GDP of US$143,740, while Ireland ranked third with US$133,900.
Switzerland placed seventh with US$91,930, followed by San Marino in eighth with US$86,990, and Norway in 10th with US$82,830.
Taiwan ranked 14th globally with a per capita GDP of US$76,860, just behind Brunei (13th with US$77,530) and ahead of Hong Kong (15th with US$75,130), making it the sixth richest nation in Asia.
