Taiwan has pledged a US$1 million donation to support initiatives under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Taiwan’s envoy to the bloc’s annual summit, Lin Hsin-i, announced at a news conference in Taipei on Wednesday.

Lin revealed that the donation was made on behalf of the Taiwanese government during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Lima, Peru, held from November 15-16 (local time).

The funds will be directed toward APEC initiatives focusing on human security, digital innovation, and women’s economic empowerment, Lin explained.

As a businessman and senior presidential advisor, Lin, who also serves as Taiwan’s special envoy to the APEC Summit in Peru, emphasized that the donation underscores Taiwan’s desire to actively engage in and shape global development.

Additionally, Lin mentioned that he used the summit as an opportunity to highlight Taiwan’s achievements in fields such as artificial intelligence, digital health, and semiconductors to other APEC members.
