On January 6, 2022, Taiwanese troops and numerous combat vehicles were stationed in urban streets, mirroring an upcoming war with China. This shakedown is in response to the repetitive threats of the Chinese government to capture the island.
Taiwan is constantly threatened by an invasion by authoritarian China, which claims the self-ruled island as part of its territory, which will be reclaimed one day, if necessary by force.
President Tsai Ing-wen, a daring believer in an independent Taiwan, took office in 2016. That did not sit right with the Chinese government, leading Beijing to upsurge military drills and impel diplomatic relations with the country.
