SiliconAuto, an automotive technology firm backed by Foxconn, has launched a research and development (R&D) center in Bengaluru, India. This center will focus on designing semiconductor products and developing system-on-chip (SoC) technology specifically for the automotive sector. SiliconAuto is a joint venture between Stellantis NV, headquartered in the Netherlands, and Hon Hai Technology Group, also known as Foxconn.

According to SiliconAuto CEO Gene Liu, the establishment of this center demonstrates the company’s dedication to driving innovation in the automotive industry.

Bengaluru was selected for its strong talent pool and vibrant tech ecosystem, aligning with the company’s vision for a smarter and safer transportation future.

The Indian team at SiliconAuto is anticipated to play a vital role in advancing this vision.

In related news, a Foxconn representative in India emphasized that the R&D center will significantly boost the company’s capacity to develop cutting-edge automotive technologies and solutions, benefiting both Stellantis and the wider automotive industry. Furthermore, Foxconn is actively pursuing plans to establish an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in India, along with a battery production facility for electric vehicles.

The Bengaluru design center will concentrate on creating next-generation semiconductor solutions, particularly for electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and connected car technologies. This expansion reaffirms SiliconAuto’s commitment to India as a key market for talent and technological development. The company aims to recruit top engineers and designers to further enhance its team and contribute to India’s rapidly evolving automotive ecosystem.
