Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) – a Taiwanese company- is the world’s second-most valuable semiconductor company and the world’s largest dedicated independent (“pure-play”) semiconductor foundry.
The Tensor G4 is the final chipset from Google produced by Samsung, as the company is reportedly transitioning to TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process for the Tensor G5. According to a report from Android Authority’s Kamila Wojciechowska, Google is parting ways with its long-time manufacturing partner Samsung to pursue a more promising collaboration with TSMC. Credible documents indicate that Google plans to use TSMC’s process for both the Tensor G5 and Tensor G6, including for the upcoming Pixel 10 family set to launch in 2025, which will utilize the same node as Apple’s A18, A18 Pro, and M4 chipsets. Additionally, there are rumors that Google will adopt TSMC’s 2nm process for the Tensor G6.
