Despite Beijing’s Bullying Lithuania Supports Taiwan

Today, oppressors are posing new challenges to Lithuania thanks to China.
Following the Parliamentary agreement, Prime Minister Ingrida imonyt’s government withdrew from the ’17+1′ group of central and eastern European countries last year. 
The organization, which was founded in 2012 with China, strengthened cooperation with Beijing, including projects under the Belt and Road Initiative. 
After a decade, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister said the agreements had delivered the Baltic state “almost no benefits.” 
Lithuania not only left the EU, but it also improved relations with Taiwan and permitted the Republic of China to open an office in Vilnius, provoking the PRC to withdraw its ambassador and impose a de facto economic embargo.
A shipment of Lithuanian rum was even stopped, causing Taiwan to buy it instead! 
Taiwan has also announced the launch of a $200 million fund to invest in Latvia. 
China said that the European nation will be sent to the “garbage heap of history.”

The Beijing playbook only has three strategies: 
threaten and intimidate, accuse adversaries of doing what China does, and engage in tantrum diplomacy. 
With Lithuania, all three were on display. 
The PRC not only blocked imports from Lithuania but also items from Europe including parts created in the Baltic state, prompting warnings from the EU Trade Commissioner that if the problem was not handled, Europe will take China to the WTO.
